BIOGRAPHY

Michael F. MillerickMichael F. Millerick, Esq. has been practicing civil litigation in the city of San Diego handling cases in both state and federal courts for the past twenty years. Following admission to the California Bar in 1987, ten years of that time were spent practicing as a shareholder with the well respected law firm of Hillyer & Irwin and later as a partner with Massie, Berman & Millerick. Mr. Millerick now practices at The Millerick Law Firm and handles a variety of civil litigation and arbitration matters for individuals, corporations, and governmental agencies.

Born in 1956 in Hartford, Connecticut, Mr. Millerick has been married for 30 years and is the proud father of three grown children. Mr. Millerick attended the University of Connecticut where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 1978. After becoming trained as a commercial lines underwriter with the Travelers Insurance Company, he pursued a law degree at the University of San Diego School of Law and received his Juris Doctorate in 1982 after serving on the San Diego Law Review.

Following law school, Mr. Millerick joined the law firm of Hinkle, Cox, Eaton, Coffield & Hensley in Roswell, New Mexico and practiced for five years handling complex litigation matters for clients such as Exxon Corporation, Mobil Corporation and several local municipalities.

Upon moving to San Diego in 1987, Mr. Millerick became a shareholder with the law firm of Hillyer and Irwin and represented Allstate Insurance Company in hundreds of subrogation matters including significant earth movement and construction related issues. Since that time, Mr. Millerick has successfully litigated several large construction defect cases involving homeowners associations and individuals seeking to recover for significant construction defects to their properties.

While at Hillyer & Irwin, Mr. Millerick became proficient in handling complex insurance coverage/bad faith matters on behalf of major governmental entities such as the Port of San Diego and the County of San Diego. During that period, Mr. Millerick was responsible for several multi-million dollar cases which resulted in substantial settlements and/or verdicts for his clients. Over the past ten years, Mr. Millerick has become involved in handling numerous franchisor/franchisee disputes on behalf of several clients which included Postal Annex+, Inc., Postal Connections of America Franchise Corporation, Fiducial Franchises, Inc., and others. On occasion, Mr. Millerick also represents franchisees involving significant franchise investment act violations and other tort claims.

Presently, Mr. Millerick represents clients located throughout California and across the United States. His clients include businesses of all sizes and many individuals. Mr. Millerick enjoys practicing at his own firm where he can offer his clientele "big firm" experience at reasonable rates. Giving his varied experience handling civil litigation matters of all types, he is uniquely qualified to represent both plaintiffs and defendants in virtually any kind of civil litigation matter.
